Brief introduction to Cancer Precision Medicine Research Center

Datetime:2020-01-14

The Cancer Precision Medicine Research Center was established in February 2019. Professor Qian Cheng, chief scientist of key R & D plan of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China and director of the National Precision Medicine Biotherapy International Joint Research Center of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China, acts as the director of the center. Professor Qian Cheng presided over and completed 16 projects such as the fifth framework research project of the European Community, key projects and foundations of the Spanish Ministry of science and technology and the Ministry of health, with a total funding of 2.1 million Euros. After returning to China in 2008, he successively presided over 22 national and provincial level projects, including 1 key special project of the Ministry of science and technology of the people's Republic of China, 2 National 973 projects, 2 National 863 projects, 2 major international cooperation projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of the people's Republic of China, major projects and key projects, with a total fund of 62.9474 million yuan. He has published 160 papers in journals of Clinical Oncology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology and other SCI journals, with a total impact factor of more than 1000, and cited more than 5000 times by Cell, Nature series, The lancet and other SCI journals. 4 PCT international invention patents and 10 national invention patents have been achieved.. More than 90 visiting scholars, postdoctoral students and postdoctoral students at home and abroad were trained. At present, a professional team composed of more than 10 researchers at all levels has been established, with the main members coming from key universities such as Tsinghua University, Chinese University of Hong Kong, Zhejiang University, Chongqing University and the Third Military Medical University.

The research center adheres to the notion of "featured development, corner overtaking", with the integration of the basic research, achievement transformation and clinical application. The basic research, molecular diagnosis, precise prevention and treatment of tumor have been systematically integrated. The research focuses on the following six aspects:

1. Tumor biology research: focusing on the mechanism of tumor microenvironment regulating cancer metastasis and recurrence, and tumor stem cell self-renewal and differentiation, so as to provide a new target for tumor diagnosis and treatment.

2. Tumor genomics research: focusing on the changes of tumor genomics and exploring new targets of tumor diagnosis, prediction and treatment

3. Tumor immunology research: focusing on the molecular mechanism of tumor immune escape and the mechanism of tumor microenvironment regulating immune function.

4.  Research on tumor biotherapy: focusing on new technologies, strategies and methods of tumor biotherapy, and providing new products and technologies for clinical treatment of tumor.

5. Clinical study of stem cells in the treatment of major diseases: researching into the role and mechanism of stem cells in the treatment of metabolic diseases, autoimmune diseases and tissue damage repair.

6. Molecular diagnosis and molecular image research: The research focus is on molecular diagnostics with gene and proteomics as the core, and molecular image with specific image probe based on target combination as the core. Through bioinformatics and other methods, the core scientific issues of precision medicine are explored and a theoretical system and technical means of precision medicine have been established.
