In 2017, with the consent of the Chongqing Municipal Health and Family Planning Commission and the Municipal Education Commission Chongqing Cancer Hospital became the non-direct-managed hospital affiliated to Chongqing University.

In 2013, the Chongqing Municipal Committee approved the addition of Chongqing Cancer Center.

In 1997, it passed the evaluation of grade a hospitals.

In 1984, the Chongqing Municipal People's Government formally approved the rename of Chongqing Second Workers Hospital as Chongqing Cancer Institute.

In 1954, the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government transformed Shaci Hospital into the Chongqing Second Workers' Hospital to provide medical services for citizens in the area as a municipal-level comprehensive hospital.

In May 1953, it was renamed Chongqing Eighth People's Hospital.

In November 1952, the hospital was renamed Shaci Hospital of the Ministry of Health of the Southwest Military and Political Committee.

The National Government reorganized Shaci Hospital of Chongqing Central Hospital into Shaci Hospital of Chongqing University, which became the teaching hospital of Chongqing University School of Medicine.

The hospital was handed over to Chongqing and renamed Chongqing Central Hospital Shaci Branch.

December 25, 1943, the Shaci Health Experimental Hospital of the Central Laboratory of Health Sciences (the earliest predecessor of the Cancer Hospital) was established.
