Department of hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer, founded in 1961, is the first hepatobiliary and pancreatic specialty in China. For more than 40 years since its establishment, the department has been committed to team culture construction, discipline construction and specialty brand building, and has established a characteristic specialty centered on standardized treatment and minimally invasive treatment of liver, gallbladder and pancreas tumors. The Department has a team of skilled personnel with excellent medical ethics, including 3 chief doctors, 4 deputy chief doctors and 2 attending doctors, among whom 1 expert enjoying government allowance of the State Council. There are 5 doctors and 6 masters, and the outstanding talent team has played an important position in Chongqing.

Over the past 40 years, the Department has been committed to the basic research and clinical research of hepatobiliary and pancreatic cancer, and has made gratifying achievements. The department has won the first prize and the third prize of Scientific and Technological Awards of Sichuan and Chongqing for many times. Now the department is working on two municipal projects. In recent years, the department was the first one in China to perform laparoscopic portal vein catheterization and subcutaneous pump placement for the treatment of advanced liver cancer. The department was also the first on in Chongqing to perform laparoscopic appendectomy in children, and children's laparoscopic appendectomy, children's portal azygous disconnection, laparoscopy for liver cancer, liver hemangioma resection, laparoscopic giant spleen resection, laparoscopic liver cancer microwave ablation, 125I seed implantation for liver cancer, pancreatoduodenectomy for the elderly, 53p adenovirus gene therapy for primary liver cancer and other new technologies. At the same time, a systematic study was carried out on the treatment of liver cancer, pancreatic cancer and cholangiocarcinoma with a variety of comprehensive treatment modes mainly based on surgery, which improved the clinical treatment effect of specialized tumor to a certain extent.
